The Oriental Institute at University of Oxford invites applications seeks a Research Assistant to join the British Academy funded project Decoding the Ancient Sacred Landscapes of the Arid Southern Levant (Southern Jordan/Israel), working under the project's Principal Investigator), Professor Juan Manuel Tebes. The project aims studies sacred landscapes through an interdisciplinary approach at the intersection between digital humanities and archeological research, and aims to make all spatial and archaeological data, and an associated map, freely available through an online digital repository.

The post holder will work with Prof Tebes in the expansion and completion of the project database and map. Main duties will include reviewing, identifying, collecting and correcting archaeological and historical datasets. Graduate students with an interest in history, archaeology, anthropology and religious studies will find this project very attractive.

The successful candidate will hold a relevant degree in humanities, and will be working towards a doctorate in a specialist field related to this research. The successful candidate will have advanced skills in data gathering and management and experience of following and adapting methodologies, and you may have experience in QGIS or similar software.

This position is based in central Oxford. This is a part-time (15 hours per week), fixed-term position between September and December 2023.
