Grants

The Mary Jaharis Center offers a series of grants with the aim of promoting Byzantine studies. Our funding opportunities are directed at advanced graduate students, early career academics, and Hellenic College Holy Cross faculty.
Sponsored Sessions

To encourage the integration of Byzantine studies within the scholarly community and medieval studies in particular, the Mary Jaharis Center sponsors sessions at major academic conferences and provides limited financial support for participants.
Lecture Series

Each year, the Mary Jaharis Center invites scholars specializing in the study of the Byzantine world to present their research in public lectures. All are welcome to attend these free events.
East of Byzantium

East of Byzantium is a partnership between the Mashtots Professor of Armenian Studies at Harvard University and the Mary Jaharis Center. It explores the cultures of the eastern frontier of the Byzantine Empire in the late antique and medieval periods.
North of Byzantium

North of Byzantium is an initiative organized by Maria Alessia Rossi and Alice Isabella Sullivan with sponsorship from the Mary Jaharis Center. Its focus is the history, art, and culture of the northern frontiers of the Byzantine Empire in Eastern Europe between the thirteenth and sixteenth centuries.
