The Gladys Krieble Delmas Foundation awards travel grants to individual scholars to support historical research on Venice and the former Venetian empire, and for the study of contemporary Venetian society and culture. Applicants from all disciplines of the humanities and social sciences are eligible areas of study, including, but not limited to, archaeology, architecture, art, bibliography, economics, history, history of science, law, literature, music, political science, religion, and theater. Other relevant research interests will be considered as well.
Funds may be used for travel to and residence in Venice and the former Venetian empire; transportation within the Veneto; and specific research expenses.
The April deadline is for citizens or permanent residents of the British Isles or Commonwealth, and/or be research students or permanent or affiliated members of a university within these areas. Experienced curatorial or conservation staff of galleries and museums are also welcome to apply. Applicants must have experience in advanced research at the graduate level or equivalent. PhD students must have completed all course work at the time of application.
