The Department of Classical Studies at Trinity University invites applications for a tenure-track position in Ancient Mediterranean Archaeology, beginning in August 2024, at the rank of Assistant Professor.

The department is seeking a candidate with a specialization in the material culture of the ancient Greek or Roman worlds, broadly defined. Preference will be given to candidates whose research or research trajectory is based in archaeological fieldwork firsthand or in analyses or presentation of archaeological material. Interdisciplinary approaches to research and teaching are especially welcome. The ideal candidate will be able to create or identify opportunities for student participation in archaeological projects, whether in the field or in museums or laboratories; or other summer experiential learning opportunities; or in some aspect of digital humanities. Demonstrated teaching ability and enthusiasm for teaching a variety of courses at a highly selective undergraduate institution are essential. Ability to teach Latin or Greek is preferable, but not required.

A Ph.D. as of August 2024 is required. A diversity of specialties will be accepted (e.g. Archaeology, Anthropology, Art History, Classics, Geography, History), provided that the candidate has the requisite training or skills to teach courses suitable to the curricular needs of the department, i.e. Greek and Roman worlds broadly defined.
