The Department of Anthropology at Yale University seeks to hire a tenure-track Assistant Professor in anthropological archaeology, with an initial five-year appointment beginning July 1, 2024. The successful applicant will have a research and teaching profile involving the environmental archaeology of complex societies. Applicants should be involved in field and laboratory research on the broad range of human interactions with the environment and have relevant methodological expertise such as the analysis of plants, animals, and/or landscapes. The research focus may involve specialization in archaeobotany, zooarchaeology, geoarchaeology, or geospatial analysis. The geographic area of specialization is open, with the expectation that the successful applicant will complement the department’s existing faculty profile. The teaching expectation is normally four courses per academic year.

The appointee must hold a Ph.D. or equivalent degree or have completed all requirements for that degree by their start date.
