The American School of Classical Studies at Athens invites applications for Assistant Director of School for a one-year term, beginning August 2024.

The Assistant Directorship is a primarily administrative position with just over half the expected hours dedicated to the administration of School business, managing the Summer Programs, coordinating with the Director of Communications in Princeton, overseeing the School’s wellness program for members, and attending events in Athens. The position includes teaching opportunities comprising roughly a quarter of the expected hours. These opportunities include assisting with the academic program in ways that build on the Assistant Director’s areas of expertise and interest and lecturing on trips during the academic year and contributing to or developing short courses or seminars. The Assistant Directorship includes the expectation of research comprising roughly a quarter of the expected hours.

Candidates must have earned the Ph.D. no more than five years prior to the application and must have spent at least one academic year as a Member of the ASCSA. An active agenda for research, knowledge of Greece and Modern Greek, and teaching experience are expected.
 
In addition to salary, the position includes room and partial board at the School, health and life insurance, contributions to a retirement plan, relocation costs and a travel allowance.
 
The deadline for applications is July 5, 2024. Candidates will be interviewed in mid-July.
