The University of Rochester’s Department of History seeks to hire an outstanding early-career candidate in the area of pre-modern queer history (ca. 500-1800 CE). We welcome applications from scholars studying all regions, whose work complements or enhances current department strengths. Appointment will be at the rank of tenure-track Assistant Professor. The successful candidate will offer courses on the undergraduate and graduate level in queer history and other topics related to their particular specialization and will be expected to carry on a distinguished research program, as well as to interact with the Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender, Sexuality, and Women’s Studies; the Humanities Center; and other appropriate consortia on campus, such as the Rossell Hope Robbins Library. The successful candidate will teach two courses per semester (2:2 load).
