Western Chant Immersion

Date: Nov 12, 2016 Time: 10:30 AM–11:15 AM Location: Hellenic College Holy Cross Building: Archbishop Iakovos Library Reading Room Address: 50 Goddard Ave Brookline, MA 02445-7415

Amelia LeClair, Cappella Clausura founder and director, introduces participants to the western chant tradition from the Liber Usualis to Hildegard von Bingen.

Chant is spoken prayer. In this workshop, participants will learn how western chant from the Liber Usualis, the Sarum Gradual, a Bolognese Convent's Officio, and the Symphoniae of Hildegard von Bingen is notated to approximate the spoken word, as well as experience the heady vibrations of being surrounded by chant as we sing and move to the sound we create. Join us for an adventure in surround sound!

Seating is limited. Registration is required.
