The Mary Jaharis Center for Byzantine Art and Culture invites HCHC students to visit our nation’s capital to view the groundbreaking exhibition Heaven and Earth: Art of Byzantium from Greek Collections. Recognized masterpieces, many never lent before to the United States, will be on view with newly discovered and previously unpublished objects from recent archaeological excavations in Greece.
The Mary Jaharis Center has chartered a coach that will take us to Washington on the morning of Friday, November 8. All attendees will have their own room at the Hotel Sofitel Washington DC Lafayette Square, situated at the corner of Lafayette Square bordering the White House. Students will have the evening free to explore. On Saturday morning, we will tour the exhibition and the coach will return to campus.
The Mary Jaharis Center is happy to say that we can defray the vast majority of the costs for transportation and lodging. Students need pay only $25.00 for the trip. Student contributions are not refundable. Meals will not be provided, but Washington, D.C. is a culinary destination filled with inexpensive, moderate, and deluxe dining options.
Married students living on campus are welcome to bring their families. We have reserved a few rooms with double beds for families with children (17 and under). Children will not be charged for the trip.
Seats are limited. Please reserve by Thursday, October 10. No reservations will be taken after this date.
