Anthony Kaldellis, University of Chicago

Anthony Kaldellis is a Professor of Classics at the University of Chicago. His doctorate from the University of Michigan is in History (2001). He has just published, with Oxford, a big new history of Byzantium from beginning to end called The New Roman Empire. Professor Kaldellis has also published books and articles on historiography, classical reception, political ideology, and ethnicity, in addition to many translations of medieval Greek texts, mostly historical ones. In 2019, he launched the podcast Byzantium & Friends, in which he interviews colleagues from around the world on many topics of current research.
