Explore your cultural heritage and earn college credit this summer in Boston 2014 Mary Jaharis Center for Byzantine Art and Culture Pre-College Program at Hellenic College
Experience College Life
The Mary Jaharis Center Pre-College Program offers rising juniors and rising seniors the opportunity to experience academic and residential life at the intellectual, educational and spiritual center of the Greek Orthodox Church in America, Hellenic College. Students can earn college credit exploring the rich heritage of Byzantine history and culture and prepare for the college application process with an intensive SAT preparation course (included with tuition). Students live on campus in a safe and secure residential hall under the supervision of residence life staff. The summer program will run from June 29–July 18, 2014.
Learn about Four Byzantine Cities . . .
All summer students will have the shared intellectual experience of taking the same course together. Two specialists—an historian and an art historian—will lead students on an exhilarating journey across a thousand years and an entire empire. The class will explore the history, art, and architecture of four of Byzantium’s greatest cities—Constantinople, Jerusalem, Thessaloniki, and Mystras—and help students develop valuable skills for college.
. . . in One of America’s Great Cities
Hellenic College is located in Brookline, MA on a beautiful hilltop campus overlooking the Boston skyline. Boston will be an extension of our classroom, as we explore its museums, libraries, and marketplaces with an eye to comparing the Byzantine past to our present. Supervised extra-curricular group outings may include visits to Fenway Park, Revolutionary War sites, and Boston’s world-famous Fourth of July celebration.
