Temporary Lectureship in Byzantine and Early Medieval European History, University of Cambridge

Applications are invited for a one-year Temporary University Lectureship in Byzantine and early medieval European History. The post is available from 1 October 2014 until 30 September 2015, and is based in central Cambridge.

The new appointee will be expected to contribute lectures and classes for the Historical Tripos on both Byzantium and early medieval Europe. He or she will have full responsibility for the teaching of the graduate students taking Option 4 of the MPhil in Medieval History: "The Byzantine Empire: Continuity and Crisis from Justinian I to Basil II (c.500-1000)". An ability to contribute to the MPhil course, "Sources, Methods and Bibliography" is also desirable.

The postholder will be required to examine at all levels, to take his or her share of Faculty administration, and to participate in the organisation of the Research Seminar in Medieval History. Research of international standing will be expected.
