Earliest Known Photographs of Jerusalem

Examples of early photographs of Jerusalem taken by the French photographer Joseph-Philibert Girault de Prangey (1804–1892). He began a three-tour of the eastern Mediterranean in 1842. The photos from his travels were unknown until their discovery in the 1920s in a storeroom of his estate and remained inaccessible for another eighty years.
